These paintings explore my fascination with texture, while looking to nature and its surfaces as the inspiration. I have learned that tactile surfaces in nature are formed through a process of growth and layering. I borrow this method to build the organic forms in my composition, using fabrics and papers with different qualities. I structure the forms within the painting, but the surface area, such as folds and ripples, are created randomly through the flexibility of the materials, further imitating nature's process.
